"great!" is my response to that question. every single family is unique! no matter if your family is large, extra large, or on the smaller side, I would love to capture your photos! I truly believe that there should be no shame in your story, no matter what it took to get you to where you are today! I've taken family portraits of single parents, remarried couples, extended families; and anything else you can think of!
can we bring our dog?
absolutely! I will never ever say no to this question! we'll pick a location for your photos where dogs are allowed, so we'll never run into an issue there! typically, we'll take some photos of your family first, and then we'll incorporate your pets as well. also, I will always take pictures of your pets in addition to your session for free! who doesn't love dogs? not me, that's for sure.
I have so many parents who are interested in a family session but are hesitant because their kids don't like having their photo taken, or they seem to be difficult to dress nice or when it comes to cooperation. this is 100% okay! kids are kids and I will never judge your family because of that. I highly encourage you to book a session, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised when you see the final results! the most important thing is making sure that your family members are comfortable. we can play music, take breaks, and the session will go by so quickly! plus, towards the end of the session, we'll do some fun photos where kids can run around or act silly, they'll have fun!
can we pick our location?
I want your photos to be nothing less of perfect, so we can take them wherever you'd like. if you'd prefer to take them at your house or a location special to your family, that is exactly what we'll do! I've had clients request photos at a grandparent's house, a park or trail that they traveled to frequently as a family, or just a place that they've seen and really liked!
what should we wear?
there are no rules or requirements for photos in my book! whatever you and your family feel most comfortable in. obviously, you're investing in family portraits so you want to look your best! most families will wear complimentary colors within their outfits. the only thing I do not recommend is for everyone to wear the exact same color shirt, because in closer poses, it creates an effect, appearing as though every person is one. different colors or shades are the best way to go!
